Project description
Vilcom Holding constructed the FIFA stadium in Nizhny Novgorod with a capacity of 45,000 seats for the 2018 World Cup. Our company has designed, supplied, installed, and integrated utility systems. In the course of the work, about 12,000 m3 of steel structures were installed, the volume of cast-in-place works amounted to 183,000 m3. A total of 25 utility systems have been installed at the stadium. At peak times, almost 3,000 people were involved in the construction of the facility. The FIFA Stadium in Nizhny Novgorod is a unique building and an important part of the architectural appearance of the city. Its unrivaled architecture includes huge triangular reinforced concrete columns (40 m high) encircling the arena. In the top part, they are united with each other by a façade canopy crown, fitting together with the white-blue waves of the inner facade made of membrane. This monolithic stadium astonishes with its scale, but at the same time it does not look bulky, but light and airy. One of the special features of the arena is a wide pedestrian gallery that encircles the stadium at the level of the second floor. By making a full circle along the gallery, visitors can enjoy both the majestic Volga and the main sights of the historical centre of Nizhny Novgorod, including the Kremlin and Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
